SGRetroCar's car meet offered us a chance to pair two Lotus Elan together, the second time for the year.
They say not to meet your heroes, but I already did that when I came across the other Lotus Elan that convinced me into believing I made a good choice..
As for this unit, I was and still is an enjoyer for red cars. I have no feng shui against cars of any paint color, but I've always liked bright and flashy colors because its a standout within the traditional dull and monotone white-to-black hue that is modern traffic. I never got to enjoy my dose of red shade, with my Monaco White Elanmi winning me over before anything else.
This unit is the only (still) Calypso Red unit in Singapore now, and is driven by Chris, who I had a great chat with between our cars. Ah, the usual age-related issues that crop up that need mending, plus not everything being done yet, and etc.
His is a 1991 SE, represented by the trunk cut-out that can be compared in my photos below. All remaining Elan are SE (if I'm not wrong). As is also included is the doorjam precision that is peak Lotus engineering - love it or hate it. I find it characterful at best, and terrified it has accident damage at worst!
Anyways, its great catching up with another Elan owner, and another set of photos featuring a pair of these local unicorns! More of this event can be found on this parent post. I also did an Instagram post for this little meet-up, which you may support above.
