A fancy all-black Jaguar S-Type was not on my to-see list.
This rather stylish Jaaag with a commorative plate is quite the old-money choice to have.
The X200 model code S-Type had a production life of 8 years from 1999 to 2008, which is partly shocking that these are that new given the classic styling that has dated it quite a bit, and surprising as it is was produced at a time where big capacity engines were quite popular.
The smallest engine available (which I think this car is) is a 2.5-litre V6, with the biggest being a 4.2-litre V8 that was available with a supercharger. That high-specification car known as the S-Type R made 400 quoted horsepower with a 0-100 km/h time of 5.6 seconds. Not bad, and made to compete with the contemporary BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E55.
As for the no-frills examples such as this, it was still executive-business. This unit definitely makes an impression wherever it goes, especially with the commorative Malaysia plate number that it proudly showcases.
Transmissions were not limited to automatics and were available with 5 and 6-speed manual transmissions, however automatics were fixed only to a 5-speed ZF gearbox. This unit is debadged, so exact trims is not easy to confirm, especially for a non-Jaguar enthusiast such as myself.
These Jaguar can be picked up for as low as RM15k, and I would not be surprised if these can come with its many host of issues. Would you be brave enough to pick one up?
