About this website

This blog is dedicated to our sharings about general car enthusiast life in Singapore and others, a bit of a personal memorial of our youth and what we've done, seen, experienced, enjoyed. Sadly due to how things are run here, not all cars can live a full life as they would be intended. As such, we will try to document whatever we can and archive photos of what will one day become forgottens of the past. Life is a finite experience.

Feriko: A/C unit replacement and pickup

No A/C motoring. No thanks. I'll come collect it back.

I thought my car was stolen, genuinely. Wasn't in the usual lots (my family could have used the car), but apparently it was taken to the workshop because the air-con wasn't working.

That absolutely sucks given the sauna that is ASEAN weather with Penang not being an exception. We'd cleaned the evaporator so it should have been working better than before.

Apparently it was the unit itself that was busted, which also costed an eye-watering amount as it was a direct replacement to the original unit that had the automatic function - which is a JDM item - which inevitably costs more.

Looking at the engine bay.. this is loathful. I know this has had some kind of accident damage, and this hurts to look at given this is now my problem to fix. I'm terrified of rust, accident damage lesser but terrified nevertheless.

Especially this, which I feel is likely going to be the deciding factor for me keeping the car. I do not want to know the extent of the damage hiding behind the taillight.

After all this is settled will I go and collect the car again.

Which, yes, I did. I tried putting this mat onto the car, which looks like it'll do the part. It uses velcro to stick itself onto the dashboard which is fair enough, but I did not feel like sticking it onto the dashboard to potentially damage it more. Now that I think about it, I could have just added not-so sticky ones.

Anyhow, I will use it for a bit but they obviously move around or completely slide off the dashboard under hard acceleration, which is a no-go.

As mentioned in an older post, the previous owner decided to include the original airbox for me to keep. I'm thinking of reverting the car to a stock-ish condition, so I think I will be adding this on in the next coming days.
