About this website

This blog is dedicated to our sharings about general car enthusiast life in Singapore and others, a bit of a personal memorial of our youth and what we've done, seen, experienced, enjoyed. Sadly due to how things are run here, not all cars can live a full life as they would be intended. As such, we will try to document whatever we can and archive photos of what will one day become forgottens of the past. Life is a finite experience.

Feriko: Banner up for returning to Malaysia

Second session, September! More random things to toss onto the car, starting with a banner.

Returning to Penang once again for the second time in the month, I'm back when the initial plan was to just drive into Johor. The plan was to bring a family member to other family members so they can drive up, but because of the Vehicle Entry Permit (VEP) not arriving in time, we cannot cross the border.

Wow, this car has not seen better days. I guess it still beats rusting in the open skies though.

At 2am on the night right after landing in the evening, the first order of business is trying to DIY the installation of this banner.

Given I have absolutely zero hands-on experience, this was absolutely NOT a fun process. The perfectionist in me was audibly (in my head) crying about bending it wrong, not being centered or damaging the vinyl.

For anyone else who may be feeling inspired or feel scared to install one themselves, I was following this video and I do feel it wasn't bad of a tutorial to make use of when installing.

After considerable cussing and swearing, its finally installed properly!

It definitely does not look good in terms of fit and finish - Some parts were stuck / bended beyond hope, and within the cabin shows a lot of bubbling that doesn't show on the outside. It might be a little off-center too.

However, for a first-time job, I think the indomitable human spirit has saved another project again. I'm super happy with this.

As for why I picked this banner, I like dealership origins and the backstory of a car. This to me does add some of that and is fitting - somewhat.

Honda Primo used this colorful red-white-blue colorway and logo up until midway of 1992, which they then switched to a newer design that is the Honda logo Primo look. It is actually possible to see this change through the Honda brochures during that time. Check out Charade Archival to see those changes.

Feriko was registered after this change, but I'll pretend the car was one that sat in dealer lots for at least a few months before it was sold away.

Overall once again, super happy with how it looks. I'm more than happy to be with this crapbox if anything, and changing its cosmetics bit by bit to something simple that appeals with me greatly.

Makes me forget about the woes in life or with this car, structually.

By the way, for anyone else interested, the link to the banner is here: snrdesign79

The banner came with two additional and identical design stickers that I have still yet to use. If anyone is still interested, let me know and I'll see how to hand it over to you!
(Singaporean-based only, sorry 😖)
