About this website

This blog is dedicated to our sharings about general car enthusiast life in Singapore and others, a bit of a personal memorial of our youth and what we've done, seen, experienced, enjoyed. Sadly due to how things are run here, not all cars can live a full life as they would be intended. As such, we will try to document whatever we can and archive photos of what will one day become forgottens of the past. Life is a finite experience.

Fuel for Thought: This Honda Civic EJ to fixate on

Next car to fixate on.. just oogling at the price now..

So, looking at this listing and I'm honestly craving.

This is a Malaysian-assembled unit, with redtags and and should most likely have the prefacelift exterior components. However, it has since been converted to the "EK99" look, which is the Japanese-market (generalized, as the FL exists for other markets) front and rear end.

This means revised front and rear lights plus bumpers at a minimum. This car comes with Japanese-market / original Stanley lights, so they are the genuine parts (which would be worth something normally).

This car is an automatic with the Malaysian-market faux wood inserts on air vents suround in the interior, with a broken speedometer - not surprising given this is the fourth one I've seen so far. The interior is essentially stock down to seats, doorcards, and more, apart from the odd steering wheel cover which might be covering some sort of rot on the rim.

Engine is standard, expected for an automatic and no surprise given the price. If this truly has VTEC, this 1.6-litre engine is likely a D16Y8 VTEC engine, which should likely be the VTi trim when new.

EXi and VTi was available with the VTi being the more expensive option. It supposedly is the trim that was offered with VTEC technology with the D-series, which was RM5,000 more expensive than the 1.6-litre EXi trim. It does also come with Anti-Lock-Braking (ABS), which was exclusive only to the VTi.

At the price of RM4,800.. I am very tempted.

Do I want it? Absolutely yes, its a banger using a nice chassis for a good basis of modifications if ever I delve down that route. It is an automatic which means my family can use it.

Can I spare a third parking space for it? No. Is it financially reasonable? No. So it might just be nothing more than a dream. That's too bad.
